Regardless of whether a nation is highly developed or
in the process of developing, the lure of communication
and e-commerce is too much of a prospect to ignore.
While some nations have marketed their country code
top-level domains (ccTLDs) to the world to raise national
capital, others, like the southern African Kingdom of
Swaziland, have turned inward and used their ccTLDs
to promote both a national development scheme and a
global awareness of their culture.
In this chapter, Paiki Muswazi, a special collections
librarian at the University of Swaziland who has written
extensively about the ocial implications of the Internet
as it applies to developing countries like Swaziland,
introduces us to the .sz name space and the sites that
use it to attain a national vision.
